Summary

The release focuses on the delivery and management of Basic Power Quality Data (BPQD) - voltage, current, and phase angle data from smart meters (excluding Type 4A and 8B meters).

 

The changes are mandated by the National Electricity Amendment (Accelerating smart meter deployment) Rule 2024 No. 20, effective from 1 July 2026.

IDX Fire and Forget API Channel

  • Asynchronous data delivery from Metering Coordinators (MCs) to Local Network Service Providers (LNSPs).

  • No formal acknowledgements (MACK/TACK). Only HTTP 200 OK responses.

  • Messages are queued for up to 5 business days, with event notifications sent via WebSockets.

Interfaces

  • Markets Portal: Enhanced for BPQD management and participant controls.

  • BPQD API: Enables submission and retrieval of BPQD via a RESTful API.

  • WebSockets: Introduced for real-time event notifications and flow control on the Industry Data Exchange (IDX) platform.
