Summary
This document is an AEMO Australian Energy Market Operator technical specification (v0.01, initial draft, dated 31 March 2026) describing technical changes participants need to make for the EMMS Energy Market Management System (formerly MMS); software, hardware, network and related processes. – Cash Dashboard – October 2026 release, primarily affecting Financially Responsible Market Participants (FRMPs) and participant IT/business analyst teams.
Purpose and scope
Explains the Cash Security See Relevant Rules or Procedures changes and related participant impacts across:
- Markets Portal Web applications for registered participants only. Requires access to MarketNet. (Cash Dashboard / credit support interfaces)
- Electricity Data Model The Electricity Data Model is the definition of the interface to participants of data published by AEMO from National Electricity Market (NEM) systems. (EMMS Data Model The definition of the interface to participants of data published by AEMO for gas or electricity. A database conforming to the Data Model can contain a local copy of all current participant-specific data recorded in the main database. The Data Model includes database tables, indexes, and primary keys. v5.8)

What’s changing (high level)
- Cash Security project goal: enable Energy Rules Terms participants to provide cash security as credit support and submit/manage cash security instructions via the Markets Portal (replacing/augmenting prior manual communications).
- Builds on the earlier Shortening the Settlement Cycle (SSC) “Cash Dashboard” capability (previously used for security deposits/prepayments).
Participant impact highlights
- Participants who want cash security data via Data Interchange A set of cooperating applications used to replicate data between AEMO's energy market systems and a participant's DBMS conforming to the MMS Data Model. must upgrade to EMMS Data Model v5.8.
- Data subscription: notes on auto-subscription for new files after upgrade (some details TBC To be confirmed), and handling of legacy files (TBC).
Markets Portal changes (described with mock screens)
- Cash instruction screen: new “instruction type” options for cash securities (in NEM, no maturity date—uses cash security ID).
- Convert security deposit → cash security (when a security deposit is maturing).
- Convert cash security → security deposit (requires maturity date; amount cannot exceed available balance; errors if exceeding cash security limits).
- Credit support interface: includes cash securities, cash security credit limit, and maximum cash security, with ability to view/download cash securities and bank guarantees.
Reporting changes

Settlement statement (PDF): adds/adjusts interest presentation (e.g., new “Total Interest”, cash security interest visibility, and restructuring some existing line items).

Settlement report (SR): adds fields to link parent/child cash security transactions (e.g., principal amount, cash security ID).
