Registration

The Registration Manager Client (RMC Registration Management Client) is an application the AEMO Australian Energy Market Operator Registration team use to configure EMMS Energy Market Management System (formerly MMS); software, hardware, network and related processes. The registration stream changes for the IESS Integrating Energy Storage Systems project are:

• Creates a new Integrated Resource Provider (IRP Integrated Resource Provider. Any person who owns, controls or operates an integrated resource system connected to a transmission or distribution network must register as an Integrated Resource Provider) NEM participant category.
• Removes the existing Small Generation Aggregator Energy Rules Terms(SGA Small Generator Aggregator) NEM participant category.
• Allows Registration to record, configure, and view the following bi-directional unit (BDU Bi-directional Unit. A bi-directional unit capable of charge and discharge; for example, battery technologies.) classifications:
  • BDU classified as:
  • Scheduled BDU and Market BDU
  • Scheduled generating unit (GU), Scheduled Load and Market GU
  • Non-scheduled BDU and Market BDU
  • Non-scheduled BDU and Non-Market BDU
  • BDU (that is a coupled PU) classified as:
  • Scheduled BDU and Market BDU
  • Semi-scheduled GU and Market BDU
  • Scheduled BDU, Semi-scheduled GU and Market BDU
  • Non-scheduled BDU and Market BDU
  • Non-scheduled BDU and Non-Market BDU
• Provides the capability for Registration to record, configure and identify a DUID Dispatchable Unit Identifier is an Ancillary Service Unit A Scheduled, Semi-Scheduled, or Non-Scheduled Generating Unit (ASU Ancillary Services Unit (new under IESS rule change encapsulating both generation and load)).
• All existing IRS Integrated Resource System Participants must apply to AEMO to register as an IRP and classify each BDU and GU Generating Unit during the registration grace period.
• All Non-Customer Load Participants must apply to AEMO to register as an IRP or Customer during the registration grace period.
• All New IRS Participants will automatically cease to be registered in both the Generator and Customer participant category in relation to IRS. The New IRS Participant must instead be registered in the IRP participant category effective 3 June 2024. AEMO notifies the relevant Registered Participant See Relevant Rules or Procedures of the changes.
• All existing participants registered in the Small Generation Energy Rules Terms Aggregator (SGA) NEM participant category will automatically cease to be registered in the SGA category and are registered in the IRP participant category effective 3 June 2024.
• A generating unit classified as an ancillary service generating unit Energy Rules Terms(ASGU Ancillary Services Generating Unit) is taken to be classified as an ASU (Ancillary Service Unit), effective 3 June 2024.
• A load classified as an ancillary service load Energy Rules Terms(ASL Ancillary Services Load (currently excludes generators or batteries)) is taken to be classified as an ASU (Ancillary Service Unit), effective 3 June 2024.
