June 2026 Meeting Summary

The MSUG Market Systems User Group meeting contained information about:

• MSATS Market Settlement and Transfer Solutions. The procedures published by AEMO under clause 7.2.8 of the National Electricity Rules, which include those governing the recording of financial responsibility for energy flows at a connection point, the transfer of that responsibility between market participants, and the recording of energy flows at a connection point. – Type 9 Metering
  • Type 9 metering changes progress to production with corrected dates provided for pre-production and production.
  • Updates include changes to meter configuration and related system behaviour for new metering types.
• MSATS – Settlement Interfaces
  • Updates introduce changes to settlement interfaces and reports.
  • These changes align reporting and data structures with current standards.
• MSATS – B2M Business-to-Market Schema See aseXML Schema. (R47)
  • R47 schema is introduced for B2M transactions.
  • B2B systems continue using the existing schema version and do not adopt R47 at this stage.
• MSATS – B2B Business-to-Business. Generic term used to refer to defined business-to-business interactions between participants; excludes interactions between a participant and market systems such as MSATS. Schema (R48)
  • Changes introduce updates to settlement points, participant roles, and reporting.
  • The update aligns schema versions with changes in procedures and market requirements.
• MSATS – Secondary Settlement Points
• A new data model version that is already available in pre-production and moving to production shortly.
• New reports and updates to existing reports support these changes.
• API Application Programming Interface; a set of clearly defined methods of communication between various software components. URL Changes
  • APIs move to new URLs in pre-production and production environments.
  • Participants need to update their configurations to continue using APIs.
  • Legacy URLs are planned for decommission later in the year.
• IDX Industry Data Exchange – Basic Power Quality Data
  • Basic Power Quality Data is available in pre-production through the IDX platform.
  • Production timing is updated and communicated to participants separately.
  • Supporting services include APIs, monitoring, and data exchange capabilities.
• IDX – AEMO Australian Energy Market Operator Gateway Software
  • The gateway supports integration with the IDX platform.
  • The current version is available only for pre-production testing.
  • It replaces older batch-based tools over time.
• EMMS Energy Market Management System (formerly MMS); software, hardware, network and related processes. – NEMWeb
  • Updates apply to NEMWeb for participants using automated data access.
  • Changes focus on system updates and ongoing improvements.
• EMMS – Portfolio Management System
  • New functionality improves automation in handling invalid entries.
  • Enhancements include validation updates, export functionality, and performance improvements.
  • Navigation and data loading are improved to reduce delays.
• EMMS – Settlements See Relevant Rules or Procedures, Billing and Prudentials
  • Updates include changes to settlement timelines and reporting.
  • Updates also adjust prudential settings and reporting outputs.
• EMMS – Data Model The definition of the interface to participants of data published by AEMO for gas or electricity. A database conforming to the Data Model can contain a local copy of all current participant-specific data recorded in the main database. The Data Model includes database tables, indexes, and primary keys. 5.8
  • The data model introduces updates across billing, settlement, and registration areas.
  • New and existing tables are updated to support current projects.
  • Some tables depend on system processes such as billing runs to populate data.
• EMMS – System Security Scheduler
• Changes introduce updates to system security functionality and supporting data structures.
• EMMS – Cash Dashboard
• A new interface is introduced for cash-related data and reporting.
• Updates include supporting API changes and data model updates.
• EMMS – Inverter Dispatch See National Electricity Rules
  • Work begins to replace manual inverter management processes with system-based functionality.
  • Data model changes support this update.
